In our last episode, Brick Hawke and Attacus Dove scooped Charlie Gibson, Sean Hannity, and the Washington Press Corp still waiting to ask questions of Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. By some accounts, the level to which this candidate is avoiding press conferences is unprecedented in the history of American political campaigns. A McCain spokesperson responded that it “… takes Governor Palin a long time to apply her makeup, and she’ll be ready to meet the press soon if they’ll just take a seat on the couch in the living room and promise to have her back by 10:00 pm. We’ll be waiting.”
It is in this environment that the McCain campaign allowed Brick Hawke (who authored the loyalty oath that Sean Hannity had to sign before his own interview with Candidate Palin) extraordinary access to Palin and her as-yet-unwed, pregnant teenage daughter, Bristol Palin. Only Brick Hawke could be trusted to ask respectful questions of the teenager, and to avoid such controversial topics as whether or not she has ever smoked pot (as reported by the National Enquirer), or the possible photos of Bristol Palin at a pajama-party with Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, and Kevin Federline (as this guy truly hopes). Brick Hawke rises to this tremendous challenge and gets Bristol Palin to break her silence, and possibly her mother’s campaign!
